Marguerite Routhier
Marguerite “Margie” (St. Martin) Routhier, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on Sept. 25. She was born to Arthur and Charlotte St. Martin in Westport, Massachusetts, where she was raised.
After graduating from high school, she worked at Shelburne Mill as a seamstress/supervisor for several years. After marrying Gerard, they moved to Westbrook to start raising a family. When her children were grown, she returned to work, this time within the Westbrook school system in the cafeteria, where she stayed for 20 years until she retired. Upon retirement, she now had the time to attend daily Mass at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, where she had been a communicant since its inception. She also volunteered at the Food Pantry for many years until COVID hit.
Her life centered around her faith, family, and friends. She was a happy, loving, caring person who was loved by all who met her. She enjoyed gardening, walking around the neighborhood, doing puzzles, sitting at the beach, and, most importantly, being with her family.
She was predeceased by Gerard, her husband of 57 years; her brothers, Ray, Eddie, George, and Pete; and her sister Jett. She is survived by her children, Gerard, Kathleen (Steven), Renee, and Shawn; and her granddaughter, Carissa, along with many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation was on Oct. 3 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at Saint Mark the Evangelist Church, 222 McVeagh Road in Westbrook. Burial followed in the Resurrection Cemetery, Horse Hill Road in Westbrook.
