Dorothy Martin Biehl
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of long-time Guilford resident Dorothy Martin Biehl, born on Feb. 25, 1931, who peacefully left us on Oct. 1 at the age of 92. She now rests with her beloved husband, Bob, who preceded her in death in 2016. Dorothy, affectionately known as “Dot,” was born in New Haven to Josephine and Peter Martin.
Dot’s journey began as a stenographer, but it was her later role as the receptionist of the Shore Line Times that showcased her passion for interacting with people. She never met a stranger, and her warm, friendly demeanor made everyone feel like an old friend.
Throughout her life, Dot had a deep love for sewing, gardening, and crafting. She was a devoted member of St. George’s Church and later enjoyed her time with friends at the Guilford Recreation Center. In her final year, Dot moved to Tennessee to be closer to family, where she continued doing crafts, playing Bingo, and forming new friendships that felt like family.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Joanne Anderson and her husband Mark of Auburn, California, and Janice Jenkins and her husband Kevin of Brentwood, Tennessee. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Jessica Quiñones, Christopher Anderson, Zachary Jenkins, and Noah Jenkins. Dot also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Max, Lyla, Jack, and Raylan.
Dot’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched. Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her enduring spirit will continue to inspire and comfort us. May she find eternal peace, reunited with Bob in the embrace of the divine.
Details for memorial services will be announced to honor and celebrate her life.
