Elaine Puleo Carter
On Sept. 26, Elaine Puleo Carter, 77, a longtime resident of Madison, passed away peacefully at CT Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of the late Lenny Carter. Elaine was born in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 2, 1945, the daughter of the late Ben Nichols and Florence (Vacca) Nichols. She was the loving mother to John Puleo and his wife Maria of North Providence, RI. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Stephanie Puleo and Anthony Puleo; she was the sister of James Nichols and Linda Nichols.
Elaine graduated from Worthington High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. Before retirement, she had worked as a senior vice president for Oppenheimer Mutual Funds company for 15 years. She enjoyed her time with family and friends, playing golf and pickleball, yoga, reading, and watching Ohio State football. Elaine was working in the twin towers on Sept. 11, 2001, and helped evacuate her whole team before the building collapsed.
Friends and family were invited to a Mass of Christian burial celebrated on Sept. 30 at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Burial will be held privately in New Jersey.
