Robert F. Tirrell passed away on July 29 in his home in New Britain. He is survived by his daughter Lara Bain and husband Godin and their four children: Jessica, Brittney, Frankie, and Michael; two grands, Isaic and Dominic, all reside in South Carolina; as well as a beloved brother, Arthur Tirrell and his wife Lori; along with many nieces and nephews. “Uncle Bob,” as he was known by many, was born July 9, 1946, in Hartford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob wore many hats during his working years — a civil engineer, real estate agent, and buying, selling, and restoring antiques. He retired from sales with Greenwald Industries around 2011. Bob loved fishing with his brother and many friends and customers. He had many fish stories to tell. He also loved playing chess. He had a generous spirit and enjoyed talking with neighbors and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 23, at the First Congregational Church of Deep River, with a reception to follow.
