09/15/2023 07:14 AMDonald J. “Don” Nitz, 81, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, at Midstate Medical Center, Meriden, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Lois Bentley Nitz. Donald was born in Meriden on Nov. 19, 1941, the son of the late Theodore and Nellie Koblish Nitz and stepson of the late Everlyn Nitz.
Donald earned a bachelor’s degree in business from UConn. He was a real estate appraiser all his life and was the owner/operator for 40 years of Donald Nitz & Associates. Don was an MAI, in 1979, was president of the CT Chapter of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers.
He enjoyed going to the beach, taking car rides, playing with his cats, and working around his yard, but most of all, Don enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports and loved them all unconditionally.
He was the father of Jacqueline Perrotti (Massimo Baglioni), Jennifer Suraci (Brian), and Janice Orth (Daniel IV); grandfather of Domonic and Anthony Perrotti, Ethan and Conner Suraci, Daniel V, Zachary and Emily Orth; brother of William Nitz (Geraldine); and stepbrother of Linda Carfora (James).
The visiting hours will be from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Friday morning, Sept. 15, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 139 N. Orchard Street, Wallingford. Interment will follow in Sts.
