08/11/2023 05:57 AMOn July 30, Cynthia (Crum) Magee, 81, a lifelong resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with cancer. Cindy Magee was born in New Haven on Feb. 9, 1942. She was the beloved wife of 40 years to the late Jack Magee; and daughter of the late Ellis and Doris (Doyle) Crum.
Cindy attended Stone Academy and worked as an office manager/bookkeeper for Dougherty Oil in Branford for over 20 years.
She was the loving mother of Doug (Trish) Magee, Kevin (Laurie) Magee, and Bryan (Cheryl) Magee, all of Guilford. Her grandchildren, Emma Pearle Magee, Jack James Magee, and Kylie Paige Magee, were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her “Bobbsey twin,” Sharon Schoenfeldt of Guilford, Sue (Tom) Moore of The Villages, and Bob (Roberta) Crum of Branford. She also loved each one of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She enjoyed spending time with her Vermont family and many friends as well.
She enjoyed traveling to National Parks, especially Acadia, Martha’s Vineyard, and Cape Code, visiting lighthouses, bird watching, gardening, and watching the Yankees and UConn women’s basketball. She loved spending time at Chaffinch Island Park and enjoying a lobster roll by the water.
Cindy was a very active member of the First Congregational Church of Guilford and volunteered much of her time to the church Alpha Club and Harvest Fair, along with being an advisor for the Pilgrim Fellowship Youth Group. She also volunteered with the Guilford High School Band Boosters and was a founder of the Guilford High School Holiday Concert, which follows the tree lighting on the Guilford Green at the First Congregational Church. She was a member of the Washington Engine Company Ladies Auxiliary and a Cub Scout leader.
Friends were invited to calling hours on Aug. 7 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Services were held on Aug. 8 at the First Congregational Church, 100 Broad Street, Guilford. Burial followed in Alder Brook Cemetery, 375 Boston Street, Guilford.
