08/11/2023 05:58 AMAmedeo J. Cappiello, 86, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Rosanna Avizzano Cappiello.
Amedeo was born in Castel Morrone, province of Caserta, Italy on June 23, 1937. He immigrated to America on Dec. 27, 1957, on the cruise liner Vulcania. He attended Fairfield University and Southern Connecticut State University. Amedeo was a quality control engineer for Specialty Cable in Wallingford (He was known as “Cappy” to his co-workers.) and was the founder of the Tri-Capita Investment Group.
He enjoyed traveling, especially back to his home country. Amedeo loved being a “snowbird” and traveling to South Beach for the winter. He spent many hours tending to his garden that surrounded his beautiful pool that he was so proud of. He also enjoyed walks on the beach, playing bocci with his friends, and especially “Gelato!” Amedeo lived life to the fullest and lived for his grandchildren, whom he loved immensely and who were the greatest joys of his life.
He was the loving and devoted father of Nick Cappiello (Lauren), Davide Cappiello (Andrea), and Susanna Landino (Frank); a loving and devoted Nonno to Ava Rose Cappiello, Luciano Landino, Marcello Cappiello and Lilianna Landino; brother of Giuseppina Casella, Lidia DeFilippo (Pasquale), Palma Pagoda (Anthony) and the late Francesco Cappiello (Giuseppina). He is also survived by his extended family in Italy and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Aversa, Dr. Dean Chang, Dr. Jeremy Kortmansky, and all the doctors and nurses of Smilow ECC.
