08/03/2023 12:07 PMShirley Lacy Asid, 93, formerly of Frost Drive, North Haven, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023, at Apple Rehab, Laurel Woods, East Haven. She was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Edward P. Asid. Shirley was born in New Haven on Feb. 15, 1930, and was the daughter of the late James and Helen Scherer Lacy.
She had worked as a bank teller in the North Haven area for many years. Shirley was past president of the St. Therese Church Ladies Guild, North Haven, and President of the Montowese Elementary School PTA. She enjoyed making ceramics, even having a kiln in her basement. She also enjoyed copper crafts and Theorum Stencil art.
She was the mother of Mark E. (Susan) Asid, Marlene Asid, and Deborah (Patrick) Sharron; grandmother of Brian P. Asid, Hillary A. (Craig) Mitchell, and Jonathan and Kevin Field; step-grandmother of Kira Markham, Michael Sharron, Dylan Asid, and the late Brandy Wofford; and great-grandmother of Zane Edward Mitchell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lorraine VanderWende.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Apple Rehab Laurel Woods, especially her caregiver B.J., for all the excellent comfort and care they provided.
The visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday morning, Aug. 4, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Catholic Service will be conducted at noon in the parlor. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
