08/03/2023 12:14 PMElizabeth Jean “Bettie” Sherman, formerly of Madison, passed away July 26 at the age of 87. She was born July 27, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas. After marriage, she also lived in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Madison, and Ohio, before returning to San Antonio.
Bettie is preceded in death by her husband, Ken Sherman; parents, Rudy and Amelia Rivas; and sisters, Diana Negron and Bernice Hart. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Al Radzik; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Vedia Sherman; son Gerry Sherman; sisters, Chill Van Ness of San Antonio, Tika Drought of Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Lynde of Marston Mills, Massachusetts; and sister-in-law, Faye Erskine of Madison. Bettie is also survived by her five grandchildren: Yuri Radzik, Brett Radzik, Jared Sherman, Lindsey Sherman, and Tres Sherman; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Bettie said, “No mourning! I was lucky I had a wonderful life thanks to my loving husband, Ken, who I never stopped missing. Thank you, Ken! Thank you, God, I had it all, health, energy, interests, family, friends, pets, my home, my yard, and neighbors! I did it my way! I am a happy woman! Do not mourn me; love another, pass it on so no one feels alone! I was never alone or lonely!”
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life starting at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at 1306 Range Field, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honor to a dementia charity of your choice or the National Wildlife Federation.
