07/27/2023 11:02 AMEdward F. Tierney, III, 63, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on July 21 with his loving family by his side. Ed was born in New Haven on June 16, 1960, son of the late Edward F. Tierney, Jr. and the late Maureen F. O’Connell Tierney. Also predeceased by his first wife, Susan Bates Tierney; his brother, Michael Tierney; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Gina Raucci Tierney; stepchildren, Bailey Mulqueen and Melissa Mulqueen; and his sisters, Patricia Reiss and Eileen Viglione. He is also survived by his aunt, Eleanor Sullivan, and his two uncles, James Tierney and Frank Venice. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, as well as his longtime four-legged companion, Addison.
Ed worked as a self-employed independent contractor. He enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod and hunting in Maine with his family and friends. He was an avid Giants fan and would take anyone on in a game of setback. He spent summers at Gardner Lake surrounded by laughter, horseshoes, and pontoon boat rides. He had a big heart and was always there to help everyone he knew.
Friends were invited to calling hours on July 26 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on July 27 at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Burial followed in Nut Plains Cemetery, 420 Nut Plains Road, Guilford.
