07/27/2023 11:29 AMCarolyn (Floyd) Scranton, 89, a lifelong resident of Guilford and wife of the late Robert T. Scranton, passed away peacefully on July 23 at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Scranton was born in New Haven on Nov. 22, 1933, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Bernice (Parker) Floyd. She is the loving mother of daughter Nancy and Philip Meteer of Townsend, Massachusetts; son Robert Jr. and Sara (Mena) of Killingworth; and son Bruce and Lecia (Rusconi) of Guilford. She is also survived by grandchildren: Ruth, Janelle, Sarah, Erica, Lindsey, Audrey, Kyle, Romina, and Daniela, and 12 great-grandchildren. Carolyn was predeceased by her sister Jane Weber; and is survived by her brother Gilbert Jr.
Mrs. Scranton is a 1951 graduate of Guilford High School. She worked as a local bank teller, a pre-school teacher, and for Fleischman’s department store. Carolyn enjoyed all things social, including Kings Daughters, singing in the church choir, hosting church Bible study, and spending time with family and friends, blessing them with her amazing cooking and baking.
Friends are invited to a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, in the North Guilford Congregational Church, 159 Ledge Hill Road, Guilford. Burial services will be held privately.
