Anthony Lee Bomgardner Jr.

On July 17, Anthony Lee Bomgardner Jr., 21, a lifelong resident of Guilford, passed away unexpectedly. Anthony was born in New Haven on June 19, 2002, the beloved son of Anthony and Laura (Corsini) Bomgardner; and brother and best friend of Mark Albo Jr. He is survived by great-grandmother Marie Corsini; and grandmother Lorraine Carroll Shomper; and many wonderful great-aunts and uncles; and cousins. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Michael and Lucille Corsini of Guilford; paternal great-grandparents, Alfred and Mary Carroll of Millersburg, Pennsylvania; and great-uncle James Roadcap.

Anthony is a 2020 graduate of Guilford High School and was the senior captain of the 2019-’20 Guilford High School wrestling team. Prior to taking some time off to visit Europe and travel the U.S., he had worked as a plumbing apprentice for Ferguson Mechanical Company for two years.

Anthony had an absolutely incredible love for life itself and was rarely found sitting still. He truly needed to make the best of every day. He had a deep love of the outdoors as an avid fisherman since he could walk. Whether it was hiking miles in Pulaski, New York, on the Salmon River in search of king salmon, spending another summer night with friends at the Guilford Docks, drilling one more icy hole on the Guilford Lakes, or simply walking the Hammonasset for some nice brown trout, Anthony was never for passing up the opportunity to drop a line. On days when he couldn’t satisfy his itch for adventure outdoors, he was in the kitchen enjoying his second passion, which was cooking for friends and family. No dish too crazy, no spice too exotic; Anthony loved them all and loved putting together a good dish for all to enjoy. If he wasn’t fishing or cooking, he could be found living his absolute best life beside his brother, family, and friends enjoying endless adolescent shenanigans, concerts, Sushi Palace, late-night guitar sessions, and dinner at Carl’s. Anthony’s light will forever shine, and he will forever be remembered as a wonderful brother, tremendous friend, and the most outstanding son a mother and father could ask for.

Friends are invited to calling hours from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford, followed by a prayer service from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hunt of a Lifetime Foundation or The Johnny Morris Foundation, c/o Bass ProShops, in support of outdoor conservation and preservation.
