Daniel Gonçalves Trindade
Daniel Gonçalves Trindade, 85, of North Branford, passed away peacefully on July 10. Daniel was born on Oct. 1, 1937, to António Gonçalves Trindade and Améila da Jesus Teixeira in Folhadela, Vila Real, Portugal.
In 1970, Daniel met Maria da Conceiçao Pereira Gomes in Lisbon, Portugal. They were married in 1974 in Fatima, Portugal. Shortly after, they gave birth to their first son Louis in December of 1975.
In 1976, Daniel and Maria decided to take the courageous step of immigrating to America by themselves, without being fluent in the language, in pursuit of better opportunities for their family. They gave birth to their second son Fernando in July 1983.
Daniel worked at the Hospital of Saint Raphael for over 25 years. His primary focus in life was to provide his sons a better opportunity than he was afforded. Upon his retirement, his co-workers provided him with a golden heart symbolizing their appreciation for him. He spent the remainder of his retirement living a quiet, peaceful life focusing on cultivating his lush home garden.
Daniel was predeceased by his brothers, Isildo and Norberto. He is survived by his wife, Maria; his sons, Louis and Fernando; his daughters-in-law, Olga and Disha; his grandsons, Michael, Tyler, and Niam; and his sisters, Filomena, Palmira, and Arminda.
A memorial Mass was held on July 17 at Saint Augustine Church in North Branford.
