Alphonse Gaudio
Alphonse “Bob” Gaudio, 91, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on July 12 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Ricci Gaudio. Al was born in New Haven in 1932 and was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Mignone Gaudio.
Educated in the New Haven School System, he later served his country faithfully in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. A graduate of the former Elm City Beauty Academy of New Haven, Al was a dedicated hairdresser for 58 years and was the owner/operator of the former Al’s Fashionette Salon in North Haven. He was a Coast Guard Auxiliary at the West Haven Yacht Club and the former Town Treasurer for North Haven. He was a member and actively participated in the National Cosmetology Association of Connecticut and was a volunteer for the “Look Good Feel Better” cancer program. Al played the trumpet in the Marine band and enjoyed playing the trumpet for many years. He also loved and enjoyed his family and friends, fishing, boating, his garden, woodworking, and his card games.
He was the father of Debbie and Mark Gaudio and Lisa Turecek; grandfather of Nicole and Alphonse Jacques, Taissia Dunn, Anthony Gaudio, and Deanna Severino; brother of Salvatore “Bud” Gaudio (Marge). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his great-grandson Matthew Jacques.
The visiting hours were on July 17 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on July 18 in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven.
