Mary Patricia McIntyre

Mary Patricia “Pat” (nee Melville) McIntyre died peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 19. She leaves behind Vincent, her husband and life partner of almost 64 years.

She was the loving mother and mother-in-law of Anne McIntyre-Lahner and her husband, Mark; Susan Grinnell and her husband, Michael; Paul McIntyre and his wife, Sabrina; Catherine McIntyre-Velky and her husband, Ken; and Helen Skillin and her husband, Mark. She was the proud grandmother of Kate Petrone and her husband Aaron, Liz Lahner and her husband John, Olivia Lahner, Matthew Grinnell and his girlfriend Kelly, Michael Grinnell and his girlfriend Alanna, C.J. Grinnell and his girlfriend Samantha, Andrew Grinnell and his girlfriend Morgan, George Velky, Julia Velky, Claire Velky, Kevin Skillin, Joe Skillin and Justin Skillin; and great-grandchildren, Julianna and A.J. Petrone.

Born and raised in Manchester, England, Pat earned her teaching degree and taught primary grades. She met and married the love of her life, Vincent, in 1959, after which they embarked on their lifelong adventure — leaving their home in England to come to the US, where they raised their five children.

Pat lived her faith and was an active volunteer in her church, and community for most of her adult life. Her volunteer activities included tutoring non-native English speakers in reading and writing English; serving as a minister of the holy Eucharist and lector in multiple parishes; and transporting community members to medical appointments, as well as many school-related activities as a member of the PTO.

Pat was a successful real estate agent on the Shoreline for many years and made many long-lasting friendships with colleagues and customers. In her spare time, she and Vincent enjoyed Newcomers events, bridge parties, and organizing dinners for the gourmet groups they belonged to. Her hobbies included playing golf and traveling with Vincent and friends.

Pat was happiest creating and orchestrating family get-togethers where she could have the entire family around her and Vincent. When she died, she left a hole in the universe.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8. at St. George Church, Guilford.
