06/29/2023 07:47 AMAndrew D. Weaver, 93, of Madison, passed away peacefully June 21 with family at his side. Born in Hartford on Dec. 8, 1929, he was the son of Elbert and Grace Weaver.
Andrew was educated at Phillips Academy and Oberlin College before enlisting and serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return to civilian life, he earned a B.S. in business administration from Quinnipiac College and pursued a sales and management career in the steel industry. He married his loving wife Elaine, and together they founded Northeast Steel Corporation of Connecticut, Ohio, and Texas.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason, as well as a Pyramid Shriner, and proudly traveled in the Widow’s Son Lodge #66 of Branford for 65 years. Andrew was a deacon of the First Congregational Church of Madison and a director of the Faulkner’s Light Brigade. He delighted in lobstering and fishing for more than 80 years, exploring the world with his wife of 62 years, and conversing fluently in eight languages.
He is survived by his brother Allan Weaver of New Jersey; daughters Jeanne Mueller (Keith) and Nancy Bastian (Robert), and three grandsons, Dr. Scott Bastian (Gabryella) of South Carolina, Chase Bastian (Meredith), and Andrew Bastian of Ohio.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 8, at the First Congregational Church, Madison.
