06/09/2023 07:28 AMJoan Corrine Roth Fettes of Branford died May 27 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved wife of 45 years to Frank D. Fettes. Joan was born in Branford on July 29, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold and Matilda Schneider Roth.
She was the mother of Jeffrey Abbotts of Warren, Rhode Island, and Philip (Deborah) Abbotts of Georgetown, Maine; the grandmother of Jesse Rogers of Berlin, Vermont, and Justin Abbotts of North Branford; and the great-grandmother of Tristan and Elliot Rogers and Corrine and Kai Lana Abbotts.
She had worked as the senior administrative assistant at the Yale University School of Nursing for over 30 years until retiring. She had a lifelong love of sports, especially UConn basketball. She loved to swim in Long Island Sound, either from her boat or from the beach. She continued swimming right up to her 92nd birthday. Joan and Frank made a life together that formed as one life, inseparable until now.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.
