Carole A. Federation, 84, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on April 16 in Branford. Born in June 1938, in New Haven, to Charles and Eva Mack, Carole is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Federation, and brother, C. Donald Mack. Carole is survived by her children: Joseph (Francis) Federation, Kathryn (Dennis) Carn, Linda (Kent) Roeser, and Michael Federation; her grandchildren: Carolelyn, Katelyn, Julia, Lilly and Joseph; her great-grandchildren, Aura Celeste and Caden; her sister-in-law (faithful caregiver and the sister she never had), Marianne Torello; her nephews, David (Debra) Mack, Anthony (Michelle) Poleshek and Edward (Nancy) Poleshek; her niece Anne (Lou) Pacelli; her great-nephews Steven and Matthew; and her dear friend of many years, Carol Longley.
Carole enjoyed square dancing, gardening, watching and cataloging the many birds in her yard, and she was a dedicated fan of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team. Carole was passionate in decorating and improving the family home in East Haven, and vacation cottage in New Hampshire, with her husband, Joe. A voracious reader, she surrounded herself with books and was unbeatable in Scrabble and Jeopardy. She impressed upon her children a love of knowledge and appreciation for education. Carole, along with Joe, worked closely with many local community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, the East Haven High School Band Parents Association, and the East Haven High School Gridiron Club, mentoring many who became and remained close friends throughout the years. Carole loved spending time at home, surrounded by family, friends, and many loving pets who miss her greatly. Most of all, Carole loved Joe, sharing an amazingly rich and fruitful life.
Reunited with the man she loved for more than 60 years, their romance continues for eternity. Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, with burial and graveside service to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, 58 River Street, East Haven.
