Gaetan J. Vachon
Gaetan J. Vachon, 84, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on May 1 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Lorraine Dube Vachon. Gaetan was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada, and was the son of the late Napoleon and Marieann Vachon.
He was the former owner of Provan Drywall Company in North Haven for many years until his retirement. Gaetan was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hockey and baseball, especially the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadians, and Boston Red Sox. Gaetan coached baseball for Little League in North Haven for many years. Gaetan was always there to lend a helping hand; he was the type of person who would give his shirt off his back, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He was the father of Marc Vachon Sr., Christine Vachon, and Michelle (Robert) Bosse; grandfather of Marc Vachon Jr., Audrey Bosse, Janine Bosse, and Matthew Miele; brother of Glorielle (Gaetan) Thivierge, Rejeanne Lavigne, Jeannine (Michel Lessard) Vachon, Arsene (Paulyne) Vachon and the late Rejean and Gilles Vachon; and brother-in-law of Diane and Rejeanne Vachon. He is also survived by the Dube-in-laws; and his longtime friend to whom Gaetan spoke daily, Joe Jensen.
