Growing up and having her children in Connecticut, she was well known for making each holiday magical, especially Christmas. She decorated her house inside and out for all to see; even strangers driving by always stopped to admire. She was very proud.
While in Connecticut, she worked at Maple Shade (Guilford), Hob Nob Restaurant (Madison), The Beach Head (East Haven), and Jimmies of Savin Rock (West Haven). After spending half of her life living in Connecticut, she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she worked as a restaurant manager in many of the local hot spots. Before retiring, she managed Leverock’s Seafood House for 20 years, where she became a second mom to many of her employees, guiding them through life and its challenges. After retiring, she spent her time with family at St. Pete Beach, Fort DeSoto Park, and The Pier, always being the hostess with the mostest. She loved crafting and even had a small business called “Bright Ideas” by Phyllis. She was very creative, making each piece very personal so her creations would bring you back to that special moment to be relived again and again. Each piece was signed “Made with Love, Phyllis.”
Phyllis “ Phily” will always be in our hearts, on our minds, and watching over us. “Oh, Nanny,” we will miss you.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be determined at a later date. Arrangements in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. To share a memory or leave condolences, visit www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.
