Carole (Millette) Mazzarella

On March 30, Carole (Millette) Mazzarella, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at Hartford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of John Mazzarella for 45 years. Carole was born in Hartford on Feb. 6, 1958, the daughter of the late Paul Millette Jr. and the late Beverly (Hughes) Millette. She was the loving mother of John Paul Mazzarella (Danielle Soule), Amanda Riccio (Jeffrey), and Jaclyn Mazzarella (Ryan Turner). She is also survived by grandchildren: Dylan Mazzarella, Camryn Mazzarella, David Riccio, and Daniel Riccio; sister of Scott Millette (Mercedes), Kelly Dederer (Donald), Paul Millette III (Robin), Beverly Carr (Thomas Cestroni) and Lizabeth Cedeno (Jose).

Mrs. Mazzarella is a 1976 graduate of East Hartford High School. She went on to earn an associate’s degree in nursing. For over 41 years, she and her husband owned and operated Naples Restaurant in Guilford. Carole was her children’s and grandchildren’s number-one supporter in anything they were doing. You could always see the pride and joy in her eyes at their plays, shows, and games. She had no greater love than being a wife, mom, and nonna. She was always up to host a holiday or go for a hike with her husband. If she was with loved ones, she was happy — and so were we. In her free time, she would knit, garden, practice yoga, and bake. She was good, too. Real good. Owning multiple books-on-making-perfect bread good. She got such joy kayaking around the lake, watching the flowers bloom, and watching the eagles fly. Oh, and what passion for her home away from home, Italy! She could talk for hours about her beautiful place in Sicily. From the culture to the cuisine to the architecture, she loved it all. Of course, above all else, she loved that she got to share it with her perfect partner and husband, John.

Friends were invited to calling hours on April 5 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Memorial services were held on April 6 at the First Congregational Church, 100 Broad Street, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
