John Hancock Tweed III
John Hancock Tweed III of Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts, and Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on March 7, in Vero Beach.
Jack was born on Aug. 23, 1951, and grew up in Pine Orchard in Branford, where he incubated his lifelong love of all kinds of creatures, nearly every type of vehicle, other people’s boats, and troublemaking in search of a good time.
A hilarious and beloved husband, dad, grandfather, and brother, Jack met the most impactful love of his life, Julie Guyott, on a blind date in high school. They were married for 47 years. He was happiest being useful, silly, and well-fed and driving around in everything from a tractor to a Shelby GT. He could be counted on by everyone he knew (especially his children) to help fix or jury-rig nearly anything and for his boundless love and support.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Lisa (Valerio) Romano, Katherine (Adam) Gottsch, Spencer (Sarah) Tweed, Thomas (Kathryn Shields) Tweed; grandchildren, Jack, Alex, Max, Brewster, Simon, and Gretchen; siblings, Bill (Eileen) Tweed and Georgie (Richard) Gladdys, and Little Blue and Pumpkin tractors.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 1, at North Community Church, 72 Old Main St, Marshfield, MA 02050.
