03/17/2023 07:07 AMGloria Peterson Farrell Abbott, 96, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William M. Farrell and Elmer G. Abbott.
Gloria was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 20, 1926, the daughter of the late Gustav and Florence Carlson Peterson. She was a graduate of Union University School of Nursing and had worked as a Registered Nurse and Supervisor at Albany Hospital and later as an RN for an ophthalmology office until her retirement. Gloria was a very active member of the North Haven Center and a devote parishioner and former lector at St. Barnabas Church.
Gloria was the sister of John (Betty) Peterson and the late Dorothy Appel. She was the aunt of Fred (Jane) Appel, Raymond (Ursula) Appel, Scott (Rachel) Peterson, and Stephen Peterson. Gloria is also survived by her adopted family from her late husband Elmer: Linda (Brian) Pfnausch, Wayne (Rebecca) Abbott, David (Cathy) Abbott; along with their six children and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear friend Char Hemstock, who was like a daughter to her. She is predeceased by her son, David Farrell.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 16, for a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in North Haven Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Haven Inc., 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
