Tara Anne Lehane Buccino

Tara Anne Lehane Buccino, 61, of North Haven, most recently of Branford, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 8. Tara was born on May 8, 1961, in New Haven to the late James M. Lehane, Jr. and Lillian C. Lehane.

She is survived by her loving son James V. Buccino; ex-husband William Buccino; and her brothers, Jamie Lehane and Donald Lehane (Louise). She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, who endlessly adored her. Her cousins, Wynne Bottomly and the late Susan Calistro, were like sisters to her.

Tara was a 1979 graduate of North Haven High School and later earned an associate degree in Early Childhood Development from Southern Connecticut State College. Tara loved children and was a preschool teacher for 35 years at the JCC, Temple Beth Shalom, and most recently at ABC Learn. Tara spent her discretionary money on books and supplies for her classroom and gave cards and special gifts to her grandnieces, niece, nephews, family, and friends for every holiday. Tara grew up living on a beautiful pond in North Haven with her second “Rose Lane Family,” where she cared for her mom until her passing. Tara loved to dance and go to the beach. She had a zest for life and was kind and thoughtful to all.

The visiting hours were on Feb. 19, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends were invited to go directly to St. Mary’s Church/St. John Bosco Parish, 731 Main Street, Branford, on Feb. 20. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
