02/23/2023 04:31 PMDmitri Alexander Ray, 32, passed away on Feb. 20. Born in Leon, Iowa on July 15, 1990, he was a son of Howard A. and Kellye F. (Edmonson) Ray.
He had previously worked as a production supervisor for UniTech. He also worked in the restaurant industry for many years. He was currently employed at The Fresh Market in Guilford, where he was well-liked by his co-workers and customers. Dmitri was a very loving godfather to his two godchildren. He had an unparalleled love for his family and friends and gave whatever was asked of him when needed. He had an ability to always try to lift people up and make them laugh, and he would help people however he could whenever he was able to. His family and friends will remember Dmitri for giving people numerous nicknames, for his ability to live life to the fullest, and “Red Lights Forever.”
Dmitri was predeceased by his grandmothers, Nancy Edmondson and Patricia Groby, and his aunts, Kathie Rustan and Janie Oxley. To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, Marie Despotakis, and their fur babies Lola, Louie, and Lemon; his parents, Howard and Kellye Ray; his brothers, Michael Petaway and Kirby Ray; his grandfather Bob Edmonson; his aunts and uncles, Sallye and Jim Stevenson, Robin Meadows and her significant other Leroy Adams, Dana and Joe Owens, Dawn Edmonson, and Larry Rustan; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janice and George Despotakis; his sister-in-law Joanna Despotakis; grandparents-in-law, Francene and Henry Flesch and Toula Despotakis, as well as many loving cousins and extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to gather from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, with a service to celebrate Dmitri at 2 p.m.
