Loving husband of Linda Watson Volpe; loving father of Ramona Volpe (Carl Peters), David Volpe, Raymond Volpe, Jr. (Kathleen née Heid); loving grandfather of five, Gianna, Jesse, Taylor, Ashley, and Amanda (Victoria, née Roberts) Volpe. Ray cherished time spent with his family. Julian became Ray’s first great-grandchild, and Ray was thrilled to become great-grandfather to Harmony Fox in 2022.
Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Ray was a master’s level graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and worked as a Professional Engineer for more than 50 years, founding his own business in the latter half of his career. Ray’s career took him all over the world, working on projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
Ray’s insatiable curiosity and deep appreciation for other cultures provided his family and friends with a never-ending supply of stories about his travels. Ray lived his life as an adventure.
Ray enjoyed singing, writing, and acting in theatrical productions, classic movies, and traveling. Ray took great pleasure in hosting friends and neighbors in his “karaoke” barn, the site of many fun-filled nights on Elm Street. Ray also loved to work in the yard with his tractor.
The part of his life that brought Ray the most joy was time spent with the love of his life Linda, his wife of 56 years.
Friends are invited to visit with Ray’s family at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Followed with a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors to follow at North Guilford Cemetery on Ledge Hill Road.
