02/02/2023 11:12 AMMary Ellen (Dickerson) Corso, 89, of East Haven, passed away at home on Jan. 15, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 23, 1933, in New Haven, to John and Lillian (Hankas) Dickerson.
Mary Ellen is survived by her three devoted children, Thomas (Deborah) Corso and David (Ellen) Corso of West Haven and Karen (James) Carey of East Haven. She was the cherished grandmother of Jennifer (David) Noyes, Thomas (Danielle) Corso, Anthony (Sara) Corso, Amanda, Christine and Jack Corso, Jim, Jordan and Shannon Carey, Jade Volpe, and her children Sawyer, Delilah and Jo-Jo. Mary Ellen is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ashton, Zachary and Joey Noyes, and Katerina Corso. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George, who was the love of her life, and her four siblings: Helen, John, Dorothy, and Charles Dickerson.
Mary worked for many years at the Knights of Columbus as a clerical worker. She was a beautiful woman who loved everyone she met. She loved hanging at Dunkin’ and made many special friends there, as well as at the deli. In her younger years, she loved having her family over for Sunday dinners. Family meant everything to her. She was a woman of strong faith who believed in the power of prayer and prayed for everyone. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Family received friends on Jan. 19, at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Jan. 20 in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven, with Committal to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959 in memory of Mary Ellen Corso.
