Genevieve Rose Huta

Genevieve Rose Huta (née Viadella) born in Norwich, on Sept. 26, 1930, passed away on Christmas night, Dec. 25, at Ocean Meadows Memory Care in Clinton, at the age of 92. She went peacefully with family by her side and is on her way to meet her late husband, Peter Huta, in Heaven.

She is survived by her three children, Peter (Brenda) Huta of Westbrook, Roseann (David) Annino of Deep River, and Andrew (Jennifer) Huta of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; her grandchildren, Angelina Annino of Deep River, and Hadley Javier Huta of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; as well as Jes Lecza of Westbrook, Andrew Holbein of Ashville, North Carolina; and a countless number of loved family members.

Genevieve graduated from the Norwich Free Academy in 1948, to soon marry her husband and start a loving family. Genevieve enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren to the beach and making them peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwiches on whole wheat bread to eat while they were there. She enjoyed making strawberry rhubarb pie and French toast as well as heating up Campbell’s chicken noodle soup for her granddaughter Angelina. It was Angelina’s favorite. She enjoyed going out to lunch with her daughter Roseann, taking long car rides to see how the towns and neighborhoods have changed over the years, and watching her grandchildren build and hide in pillow and blanket forts. Her eldest son, Peter, would bring her Genoa grinders which she loved; and when her children still lived at home, she would let her youngest son, Andy, skip school, so they could go roller skating. Genevieve enjoyed going to concerts and musicals with her friends, as well as listening to Frank Sinatra. For the holidays, her kitchen would be turned into a manufacturing plant of coloring Easter eggs or making Christmas cookies. In her earlier years, she loved dancing and was a very fashionable lady. The kids at school would call her “Legs” Viadella, as she would run home during her lunch breaks to spend them with her grandmother Nana Angelina.

Genevieve battled with dementia and diabetes for the better part of her last 10 years, but was always in good spirits, as best as she could be. She was a very confidant and charming woman whom the angels of heaven are going to adore doting on. She was loved and still is. Her presence on this Earth will not be easily forgotten.
