12/15/2022 12:48 PMEllen B. DeRevere, 83, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Dec. 4. She was born in Patterson, New Jersey, on April 16, 1939, as the only daughter of the late Mary and Harvey Tompkins.
Ellen’s family moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey, in her teen years, and she attended Ramsey High School in Ramsey, New Jersey, where she met her future husband, the late Rev. David W. DeRevere.
Ellen lived in Old Saybrook, for 23 years where she served as a member of the Old Saybrook Police Department and started Cremcon, a cremations supply company. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Saybrook (Congregational) and a volunteer for several organizations. Known for her sly sense of humor, Ellen loved to travel by RV. After leaving Old Saybrook, Ellen and David lived in Texas, Florida, and Georgia. In Texas, while living in an RV community, Ellen and David opened and operated an RV supply store.
Ellen was an active volunteer at the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Destin, Florida, and the Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Ellen is survived by her two sons, Mark and wife Elizabeth and Roger and wife MaryAnn; and four grandchildren.
