Laurette “Laurie” Bentrewicz
On Nov. 29, Laurette “Laurie” Bentrewicz of Westbrook passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved dog, Tucker and dear friends, Sally, Gail, Ollie, Mary Jane, and her cousin, Carol.
Laurie was raised in Whately and Hadley, Massachusetts. She grew up on a farm and loved the outdoors. Laurie once said she wanted to be a veterinarian or astronomer. She would
lay on the grass looking at the stars in wonderment. Laurie was an avid gardener who could tum a mud hole into a botanical oasis. She did it all herself with no help and loved doing it. Laurie was a talented artist and poet. Her words could melt your heart. Laurie was an excellent chef making the most delicious meals you’d ever tasted. Laughter was always present, especially over a glass of wine. She had an eye for home decor, knowing just how to put it all together to make a cozy beautiful home. Laurie was a modest and private person who never realized all her talents. She was most proud of being a good wife and mother to her two children. She was very proud to be a grandmother and great-grandmother. Most of all Laurie was the sweetest, kindest, most genuine, and trustworthy friend anyone could have!
She was so very special. We hope she knows how much she was loved by us all.
We will all miss you, Laurie.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please try one of Laurie’s favorite things: Take the long way home, a scenic drive, a horseback ride on a beautiful beach, or a long walk with your dog. Be a true friend, generously help someone in need and appreciate each day.
Her other six shelties will be greeting her, while she looks down lovingly on Tucker.
