Lisa Marie Leavins

Lisa Marie Leavins, age 55, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away Oct. 31 at Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born March 13, 1967 in New Haven to Charles Louis Chapman and Geraldine Thomas Chapman.

Lisa lived life to the fullest and loved a challenge. She could out-fish anyone and loved doing it, as long as they were biting. She enjoyed her job at West DeFuniak Elementary, serving all the children and making sure that none went without food. Lisa loved with her whole heart. Her smile would light up any room and her laughter was contagious. Hearing her say, “It is what it is,” or “Hey, hey,” every time she picked up the phone are some of the things that will be dearly missed. Lisa is truly unforgettable and will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband Larry Leavins; her parents, Charles and Geraldine Chapman; five children: Michael Howell, Kenneth Leavins (Stephanie), James Mikoleit Jr., Melanie Loftis (Brandon), and Heather Register (Bubba); seven grandchildren: Keaton, Ashton, Emma, Chase, Riverlynn, Andrew, and Waylon; two siblings, David Chapman and Lori Chamberlain (John); and many extended family, friends and loved ones.

A memorial service was held Nov. 4 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, with the Reverend Larry Murphy officiating.
