David L. Pooler
David L. “Dave” Pooler of Stony Creek, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 7. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Marianne Backus Pooler. Dave was born in New Haven, on Jan. 25, 1943, son of the late Frederick and Barbara Benedict Pooler.
Dave graduated from Eli Whitney Technical School and was a master tool and dye maker. He served in the Connecticut National Guard for seven years. He was a member of the Railroad Enthusiasts, The Wheelmen, and the secretary of the SCBA. He worked at various machine shops and he was vice president of TFI in West Haven. His last employment was at VJ Technologies in Long Island and East Haven, where he designed and built industrial x-ray machines for companies which allowed him to travel all around the world.
He rode classic bicycles in the Short Beach Parade and the Madison Fourth of July parades every year. David was a wonderful husband to Marianne and father to Christopher David Pooler (Chris Golato) of Milford; and Janet Lynn Trudel (Russ) of Torrington; and grandfather to Christian Joseph Hopkins of Branford, and Amanda Elizabeth Hopkins of Philadelphia. He was predeceased by his brother Frederick.
Dave had a lot of friends and was generous with his time whenever any of them asked for help. He loved old cars, and getting coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed vacationing on cruise ships. He was very loved and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.
