Lorraine Foley
Lorraine Foley, 75, of Branford, formally of Baltimore, passed away July 21 at Connecticut Hospice. She was born June 14, 1947 in Baltimore to James and Mildred (Milnor) Foley. Lorraine is survived by her sister Lynne Sharpe (Norman) of Lutherville, Maryland; nephew Chris Brown (Lucy Vail) of Woodbury; niece Patty Lea (Andy) of Chicago; niece Lisa Sharpe of Baltimore; and niece Heather Sharpe of Baltimore; along with several great-nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Patricia F. Brown; and a nephew, Trevor Brown.
Lorraine worked for the United States Government as a key punch operator after graduating from high school in Baltimore. The government job was moved to another state; at that time, she moved to Connecticut to be with her older sister. After moving to Connecticut, she went to school to become a licensed massage therapist. She worked for several years doing that and then became a para-professional, working with the severely, profoundly disabled in the New Haven school system for 21 years.
Lorraine fought a courageous battle with multiple myeloma for the past 11 years. She never gave up trying to save her life and was living independently until a few days before she entered hospice. Throughout Lorraine’s life, she enjoyed music. She had a beautiful singing voice! Lorraine loved life, her family and her friends.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, in the Clancy Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave. East Haven. Burial will be private.
