Cynthia Whiteman Comment, 87, of Westbrook passed away peacefully on Feb. 6. She was the wife of the late Noel W. Comment, Sr., and the daughter of the late Ronald C. Whiteman, Sr., and Maude Honce Whiteman. She grew up in Guilford, attended the University of Connecticut, and then worked for the Shoreline Times and the Clinton Recorder as a reporter, copy editor, and theater reviewer. She later became the first coordinator for the Medical Outpatient Transportation Service (MOTS), established in Clinton. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Vermont, and more recently they lived in Westbrook.
Cynthia served many years with the Guilford Fair Agricultural Society as a director of the flower tent. She joined a bowling league, became a fifer in the Westbrook Senior Fife & Drum Corps, and in later years she and her husband enjoyed the camaraderie of the Westbrook Senior Center.
Cynthia is survived by her son Noel W. Comment, Jr., and wife Kate of Westbrook, her daughter Michele Comment Baron and husband Mark of Washington, D.C., her sister Sally Whiteman, and her brothers Ronald C. Whiteman, Jr. (and Carol) and William B. Whiteman, all of Guilford, and six grandchildren, Jake, Fletcher, and Nate Comment, Alexander, Zachary, and Annaliese Baron.
