Joan Kennedy Humphrey, 87, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Feb. 4 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Edgar M. Humphrey, Jr. Joan was born in New Haven on Jan. 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Lawrence P. and Mary D. Shea Kennedy.
She had worked for SNET Company, retiring as a maintenance administrator. Joan was a New York Yankees fan and enjoyed gardening but most of all spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally and loved watching them live their passions. She had a strong Catholic faith and was a devout parishioner of St. Therese Church.
She was the mother of Mark Humphrey (Lisa), Patricia Thibault (David), and Tracey Gargano and grandmother of Kayla and Samuel Humphrey; Kyle, Jessica, Stephen, and Shea Thibault; and Jazzmine and Jesse Gargano. She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Lawrence Kennedy, and a sister, Ruth Bannon.
The visiting hours will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
