Lorraine Eckenroth, 67, of Chester passed away on Dec. 5, after a courageous battle with leukemia. When she loved, she loved like no other. When she laughed, the entire room could hear. Her humor was contagious. Her garden was her masterpiece. Her home was her treasured creation. Her generosity was endless. Her beauty was breathtaking. She was a presence. She was a gift. She was someone the world should know.

She is survived by her daughter, Emily Eckenroth; her much anticipated future son-in-law, Andrew Downs; her beloved and devoted sister, Bernadette Jamiol; niece Stephanie Weiner; and countless golden girl friends.

One-hundred and seventy Americans are diagnosed with leukemia every day; 67 lose the fight. On average, one acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient requires 45 pints of red blood cells and 48 pints of platelets per treatment. Inventory in 2021 is the lowest it has been in more than a decade. If just one percent more Americans would give blood, shortages would disappear for the foreseeable future. In lieu of donations, please give blood.
