Trudy Fusco, 98, of 68 New Road and longtime resident of Guilford and Madison, passed away peacefully in her home on Oct. 7. Trudy was born in Killingworth on Nov. 13, 1922, grew up in Guilford and graduated from Guilford High School in 1938. She moved to Madison after marrying her late husband Thomas Fusco on April 9, 1941. She was the daughter of Gustav and Anna (Leimgruber) Jeschor.

Trudy is survived by her loving daughter Sherry Leone of Madison and her son Thomas Fusco and wife Lisa of New Haven. Trudy is survived by three grandchildren, Ashley Leone and partener Raulee Ortiz, Lisa Girard and husband Michael, and Thomas Fusco Jr. She is also survived by two great, great-grandchildren, Austin Thomas Ortiz and Owen Matthew Ortiz.

Trudy’s bright spot was spending time with little boys and keeping up with their pictures and videos. Trudy is survived by close friends and her church family as well. Trudy was predeceased by her brothers Harold and Edward Jeschor and sister Margaret Spencer.

Trudy was a practical nurse for many years providing home care to local residents for new babies as well as the elderly before returning to school and acquiring her cosmetology diploma and license. She always enjoyed helping people! Trudy absolutely enjoyed hairstyling and would always say that it gave her great pleasure to make a client happy and feel good about themselves after their “New Style.” She enjoyed the social aspect as well. Trudy worked in salons in Guilford as well as: senior facilities, convalescent homes, and rehabilitation facilities. She worked long hours and had a lot of patience. She retired at age 85. Trudy’s hope and desire was to stay healthy and live in her adorable home forever. She did just that! Trudy will be forever missed and loved by all who shared her life with her.

Friends are invited to a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 236 Green Hill Rd, Killingworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association in memory of Gertrude Fusco, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492 https://www.heart.org/.
