John Mory Stannard, 94, of Branford passed away peacefully at a local nursing home on Aug. 29.

He was predeceased by his sister. John was born and raised in Branford; Stannard Avenue is named after his family.

John worked for the State of Connecticut as a graphic designer. He was a successful artist, showing and selling his beautiful paintings. John was an avid tennis player with his many friends. John was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
