On Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, Catherine DelVecchia, a lifelong resident of Madison and wife of Michael T. DelVecchia, passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice of Branford.
Catherine was born on March 14, 1932, the daughter of Peter and Mary Gallagher. She was predeceased by her brother Lt. Peter J. Gallagher, Jr. and her sister Mary G. Lemley.
Catherine attended Daniel Hand School from 1st to 12th grade. While at Daniel Hand, she was very popular being voted Queen of her Senior Prom. Catherine was very proud that she was a recipient of the DAR Award. After high school, she graduated from Stone Academy. Before retirement, Catherine worked many years at the Munger Lumber Company in the Business Department. She was an avid knitter and very proud of her Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls, for which she won many first-place prizes at the Durham Fair. Catherine also enjoyed downhill skiing.
Catherine is survived by her sister Margaret G. Massini; her nieces Marcat Lemley Knowlton, and Charlotte Lemley Sinclair; and her nephews Edward Massini, Thomas Lemley, and Peter Lemley.
She was very proud of her Irish heritage. “Erin go Bragh Aunt Woo.”
