Anthony J. “Hank” Basilone, of Guilford passed away on May 1 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Hank was born March 16, 1928, in Syracuse, New York, to Joseph and Angelina (Mercurio) Basilone.
Hank grew up in Syracuse, graduating from Eastwood High School. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. He returned home to attend Syracuse University, graduating in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree. He went on to spend many years working for London Laboratories Ltd., in Woodbridge, engaging in research in silver chemistry.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Catherine. He is survived by his son David and his wife Leigh of Deep River and by his son Christopher and his wife Helene of Madison. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Ian, Kyle, Justin, and Katie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Hank was predeceased by his older siblings, Joe, Tina, and Doc.
Hank and Cathy loved to travel, and together they saw much of the world. Hank also enjoyed golf, oil painting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
