Dorothy Butcher of Branford died Jan. 13 at Apple Rehab in Guilford.

She was the wife of the late William Butcher. She was the mother of William Butcher, Jr. (wife Jill) of Branford. She was the sister of Ann Gaunya and Eileen Acker, both of Wallingford, and Earl Fowler of Essex. She was the grandmother of Dory Lynne Butcher, William Butcher III, and Aubrey Feliciano. She was predeceased by her brother William Fowler and her sisters, Mildred, Muriel Hansen, and Gloria Kojabash.

Dorothy was born in New Haven Aug. 25, 1921, a daughter of Earl and Ellen McAvoy Fowler. She was an admissions officer for Yale University for many years.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 18 at St. Mary Church of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. Burial followed at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends called prior to the Mass at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, Branford. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
