Chester

Donald E. Sypher, 92, left this life the way he lived it—peacefully, surrounded in love by his family. Donald was born on August 20, 1927, to the late Frank and Julia Sypher (Lynde).

Donald served his country in the US Navy as a seaman second class. In 1988 he retired from a lifetime career at CL&P, turning his position over to his dear friend and compatriot, Tony Palmer. His many passions included traveling between his homes in Vermont and Connecticut, hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. His greatest joy was his family who he leaves behind to carry on his legacy and core family values that he instilled in them.

He was predeceased by his siblings and his parents; Donald was the last man standing. He was also predeceased by his loving wife Ida May Sypher (Altmannsberger) and his granddaughter Sabrina Sypher. Carrying on his strength of character are his children Sylvia Miksa (Tom), Diane Baxter (Rick), Daniel Sypher, and Bruce Sypher (Denise); his grandchildren Nicole Miksa (Rob), Ryan Miksa (Kate), Allison Newcomb (Jay), Courtney Ramane (Mohamed), and Kate Sypher; and great-grandchildren Autumn Newcomb and Malika Ramane. At his age, he did not leave behind many friends; however, the ones he did leave remained dear friends until the end.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Chesterfields Convalescence Hospital.

A graveside service was held at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River on Jan. 25 with the rendering of full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Chester Hose Company.
