Roger Ray Bugbee, Jr., 92, of Old Saybrook died Aug. 18. He was born in Old Lyme in 1926 to Roger Ray Bugbee, Sr., and Bernice Morgan Bugbee. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Brown Bugbee. He left Old Lyme High School during WWII to join the Navy and served in the Philippines. Later he moved to Old Saybrook in 1948 and worked as a boat builder and a carpenter until retirement.
He leaves behind sons Roger (Skip) Bugbee III and his partner Julie Lennon of Old Saybrook, and Michael Bugbee and his wife Melanie of Killingworth. He also leaves grandchildren Raena Bugbee Kempe and her husband Matthew, Jeff Bugbee and his partner Holly Sundmacker, and Shannon Bugbee Kowza and her husband Ian; as well as four great grandchildren, Cecily, Oliver, Evan, and Gideon. He will be greatly missed by all.
A graveside service will be held for the family Nov. 6 in Old Lyme at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life at the Westbrook Elks at 12:30 p.m., on Nov. 6.
