Barbara Jean Campbell, 76, of Ivoryton passed away quietly May 25 at Gladeview Health Center after a prolonged illness. She was born Nov. 18, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Paul R. and Lois L. Campbell.
She grew up in Centerbrook and attended Valley Regional High School. Her family moved to Ivoryton, where they were members of All Saints Episcopal Church. For a time Barbara worked for the Emergi Lite Corp. She loved long walks, especially with a dog in tow; she was a familiar sight in downtown Essex. She was also an avid reader and collector of Elvis Presley records.
Barbara is survived by her sister Judith Craig (Massachusetts); cousins Louis Coulson (Washington), Susan Burghes (Ohio), and Carolyn Cava (Rhode Island); and aunt Marcella Lipp (New Mexico).
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Centerbrook Cemetery, Westbrook Road, in Centerbrook, the Reverend Brendan McCormick presiding.
