Bertram Ludwig Lenz, 79, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Parkinson’s diesaes. Bert will forever be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Holmes Lenz, daughter Tracy Lenz of Essex, son Jodi Lenz of Essex, son Cory Lenz of Oahu, Hawaii, and son Bert Lenz, his wife Lisa Milani Lenz and daughter Cortney Lenz of Boston, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his sister Betty Carol Silbergleith (Charles) of Gilbert, Arizona, sister-in-law Eileen Devine Holmes of Stratford, lifelong friend Eugene Harbin of Los Angeles, California, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bertram was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he was a fuel mechanic. He then went to Pace University, where he majored in accounting and went on to get his CPA. Before he retired from the Connecticut Water Company, he was the vice president of finance. Bertram was an avid gardener and his flowers and plants were sought after in his neighborhood.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bertram’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
