Norton “Corky” Morrison died with his family at his side on Feb. 4. Born on Sept. 1, 1930, to Frank and Dorothy Morrison, he was raised in Torrington and Madison, and graduated from Daniel Hand High School, Perkiomen School, and Duke University.
Corky worked for a few years as an adjuster for Connecticut General Insurance, and then went into sales for Union Camp Corporation before retiring in 1991. He and Fran were married in 1962. They enjoyed dinner parties, dancing, traveling the world, and spending time with family. For many years he could be found under classic cars getting his hands dirty, or enjoying tours in those cars with Fran. In his later years he would be found enjoying meals and conversation with friends at local restaurants, Madison Beach Club, and Madison Winter Club.
He is survived by his children Tess (and husband Stephen Keating) and Tyler (and wife Margaret); grandchildren Maggie Harris, Steve Keating, Annie, Tessa, and Finn Morrison, and Ian and Aidan Keating; and great-grandchildren Taylor, Annabeth, Kenny, and Colt Harris. He was predeceased by his parents, older brother Ty, and the love of his life, Fran.
A gathering to remember Corky will be held between 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at Hubley Hall at the First Congregational Church of Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library. To sign the online guestbook, please visit hawleylincolnmemorial.com.
