Virginia Mary Carter (Ginny), at 92 years old, died Jan. 29 in her room that she shared with her husband Charles Alan Carter for the last several years at Madison House’s skilled nursing care in Madison. She had just finished breakfast and visited cheerfully with the nurses and aides. She was in good spirits right up to the end.
Previously, Ginny and her husband lived for 50 years in their home in Middletown. Ginny was a lifelong artist, avid reader, and keen observer of people. She was born in 1926 in Hartford. She worked as an administrator for Westinghouse in the 1960s, met her husband attending art classes, and spent decades painting and selling their original paintings at summer art shows along the New England shoreline. They enjoyed summers in their cozy cottage with lots of family coming and going in Leetes Island, Guilford.
Ginny will be missed by her husband of 57 years, her friends, and her many nieces, nephews, and their descendants.
Memorial services will be held at St. George Church in Guilford this summer at a time and date to be determined. Arrangements in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home and the Sullivan Family, 115 Church St., Guilford. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.GuilfordFuneralHome.com.
