David J. Wood, 62, of Branford passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms on Dec. 9. Born in Meriden July 28, 1956, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Joan R. (Saint-Rossy) Wood.
David received his B.A. in business from the University of Connecticut and spent the next 35 years in the aerospace industry at Sikorsky Aircraft/UTC as subcontract administrator/supply manager responsible for purchasing, negotiating, managing, and mentoring. He was especially dedicated to serving military needs with a priority to safety.
David married his wife Georgette Campano Wood in 1987 and enriched her life with his love, loyalty, appreciation of life, bright smile, and unique sense of humor.
David enjoyed music, gourmet cooking, sports, keeping fit, walking the Sikorsky track and the beach, biking, and all things nature. He was interested in people and took them to heart. David kept current and continued to learn from history through his readings and program choices. He was a lifetime fan of the New England Patriots, and UConn Huskies.
In addition to his wife Georgette, he is survived by his siblings Christopher J. Wood and wife Jennifer; Stephen Wood and wife Marina; Julie Ransom; and Catherine Lange and husband Davis. He also leaves his cousins Claire, Karen, Valerie, Dan, and James Saint-Rossy; a brother-in-law, George Campano; nieces Irene Krall, Michelle Lane, Caitlin Wood, Jessica Wood, April Ransom, and Kyra Lange; and nephew Kevin Wood.
In lieu of flowers please donate to those you find in need and can help at this time in honor of David.
A celebration of David’s life will be held in 2019 when New England warms again and brings new life, on the Hospice grounds overlooking the Long Island Sound.
