Deep River

Alina Schwartzman, 48, of Deep River, passed away peacefully after a long and valiant fight with breast cancer on Oct. 19. She was born Alina Stankiewicz in Norwich.

Alina graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1987 and Emerson College in 1991, and worked for more than 20 years in public relations at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. She married Adam Schwartzman in 2002 and moved to Deep River, where their daughter, Hannah, was born.

Alina was a loving wife and mother, warm and generous daughter, sister, family member, and friend. She loved reading, writing, making jewelry, her home and garden, biking, walking in the woods, brunching, and watching HBO and scary movies with her family. We will miss her warmth, her steady support and guidance, and her love and generosity to her family and wide, life-long circle of friends.

She is survived by her husband Adam and her daughter Hannah, along with her father Kazimierz, brother Jerry, sister-in-law Kathleen, and nephew Ryan. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Czeslawa, and brother, Kazimierz, who died in infancy in their native Poland.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Chester, on Oct. 24, followed by burial in the Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River. Visitation was held on Oct. 23 at the Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook.
