Victor J. Darin, Jr., 90, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 27.
He was the loving husband of Rosemarie Colavolpe Darin for 63 years; father of Ann Legrand, Victor and Katherine Darin, Christina Poole, and Gina and Robert Blakeslee; grandfather of Eric, Andrew, Patrick, Kimberly, Joseph, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Bryan, and Robert; great-grandfather of Madison, Miguel, Mireya, Samantha, and Victor; and loving uncle of Salvatore and Maria Ceneri, Richard and Mark Darin, and Ralph Colavolpe and their families.
Victor was born in New Haven July 11, 1928, son of the late Victor and Philomena Ferriola Darin. He was also the brother of the late Richard Darin; brother-in-law of Ralph and Catherine Colavolpe, Chuck and Joann Colavolpe, his especially loved brother and sister-in-law Salvatore and the late Carol Ceneri, and the late Biagio and Joseph Colavolpe.
Victor was an army veteran serving in Germany, spreading joy as a mailman. A lifelong carpenter, he worked with his father and brother providing homes for many. He eventually retired from National Lumber in North Haven. Victor had a large circle of friends of all ages, both here and in Florida, including Jennifer Ryan who was his fourth “adopted” daughter. Victor was a person who would light up a room. He would put a smile on the face of everyone, as he said, “good for you to see me.” We will remember all of his jokes, comic situations, and mostly his love. He will live in our hearts and “funny bones” forever.
Visitation was held Sept. 30 at the Maresca & Sons Funeral Home, 592 Chapel St. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 1 in St. Mary’s Church, Branford.
